International Marketing and Communications Conference

The http://www.comvort.com International Marketing and Communications Conference is currently taking place in Chicago at the Renaissance Hotel on Wacker Drive. The dates area September 17-20, 2009, although quite a few guests came in a few days earlier and a few are stayinig after the conference is over.

It’s great to see such as diverse group of people attending this conference, it’s like the United Nations. The conference is represented by 27 countries, speaking 17 languages, among them all the European languages, Russian, Korean, Urdu, Arabic and Uzbek.

It would be great if we could plan conferences and meetings like these all the time. Although they require just as much work and time as a large congress, I like the small and intimate setting. By the end of the program, everyone knows each other and often have made friends for life.

ADH Events took care of all the conference logistics, including av, day and evening functions, room drops and printed materials.

Planning Outdoor Meetings in Chicago

This year has been quite the year in Chicago, especially for meeting and event planners and/or their clients who have an outdoor program in mind. Always plan on having a rain back up plan, which not necessarily includes a tent.

This year has been a challenge with all the rain we had. Yesterday was a gorgeous day in Chicago with temperatures still in the low 80s at night. Today it is in the high 60s and rain. Weather in Chicago can change in a heartbeat, and it isn’t just the rain. It’s also the wind. Although you’ve heard the saying “Windy City”, that’s not where the name came from, but if you’re planning on a rainback of being a tent, make sure that the tent can withstand strong winds. Depending on where the location is, most tents can’t be used when winds are stronger then 25 miles.
